Write for us

We welcome thoughtful pitches about Western film that help readers notice a story, setting, character or filmmaking choice in a new way. A strong proposal has a clear focus, a fresh angle and a useful point for readers to take into their next viewing.

What to pitch

We are interested in concise explainers, comparisons, historical context, close readings and viewing pieces tied to a particular question or occasion. Choose a subject that fits Western film and can be handled accurately without unsupported claims or invented detail. Tell us what the reader will understand or notice by the end.

Make the idea specific

A good pitch names its central question, explains why it is worth exploring and sketches the main points the article would cover. Mention relevant films or examples and explain how they serve the argument. Avoid pitches that are only a broad topic, a plot recap or a request to promote a film or service.

Send a proposal

Send proposals through the Contact page and select the editorial question option. Include a working title, a short summary and any relevant writing samples or background you wish us to consider. Please do not send a complete article unless requested. A proposal is not a promise of publication.
